Sous Chef

Nr Helmsley, North Yorkshire

We are working with an independently run Restaurant with rooms in near Helmsley, seeking to strengthen their brigade with an experienced and driven Sous Chef.

The vision is to take the Restaurant to new levels in terms of accolade - with Michelin in it's sights - this is set to be an exciting journey.

The Head Chef takes pride in sourcing of the best seasonal produce and has some fantastic long standing suppliers. The garden to the property is home to an established orchard and kitchen garden. You would work closely with the Head Chef in planning, creating and building the team and the business.

As Sous Chef You would be considered an integral part of their team of 9 chefs in the kitchen and encouraged to develop and further grow your career - there is a possibility here for internal promotion too.

Your work place - the kitchen boasts a great open space with natural lighting. Fully refurbed and redesigned in spring 2019, it's a refreshingly great space to create.

Your clientele are mainly staying guests - visitors from the local area and much further a field. You will also cater some shoots and weddings/functions where the property is hired out exclusively.

Covers are on average around 60 per day - so more focus on finesse and experience as opposed to volume here.

The Menu -

Lunch - A small A la carte menu - Bar and Grill menu

Dinner - A la carte 4 mains, 7 course tasting, 5 puddings

About you - you will be an inspirational Sous Chef with experience of working with a fresh food menu - preferably to a 1-2 rosette level. You will enjoy being part of a team that craves progression and has a desire to push the Restaurant forward. You will be passionate about your career in the Hospitality Industry and see this position as a platform to illustrate your talent and help your team achieve. All hours here are paid and your hours will be 55-60 per week. You are welcome to consider split and straight shifts to suit yourself. Live in is available in a neighboring town about 5 miles away. Own transport is essential for the position.
